Department of Physiology
Introduction
It is a department of academic and professional excellence by providing students with basic and applied physiology. The course will enable the students to be competent in specific skills. It will also help the students to be caring and compassionate doctors with team spirit.

Services and Facilities
Teaching Laboratory
A student laboratory with seating capacity for 50-75 students, are available for practicals. Department fully equipped with light microscopes, ECG machines, EEG machine, ENG machine, osmometer, perimeter, spirometer, spectrophotometer, overhead projectors and a slide projector.
Free diagnostic services
The Department Provides free diagnostic services to professorial unit Colombo South Teaching Hospital and Family Practice Centre at the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
The following services are provided:
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Electro neurogram (ENG)
- Electromyogram (EMG)
- Electroencephalogram (EEG)
- Urine Osmolality testing
- Lung function tests
- Perimetry
